Future Literate Me

hmmm...I imagine that I'll still be reading books. Hopefully by then I'm not still reading teenage novels. I would like to expand my reading, Try different genres, types of material, that kind of thing. I would begin my mornings reading the New York Times with a cup of coffee in hand (the typical adult).  For once, I would actually learn about whats going on in the world instead of being clueless. I would then put down the paper, contemplate the severity of the issues that go on in the world. Think about how I could change it. All this serious talk makes me want to walk. So I decide to take a step out of my house, its no big nor small, just right.(Goldilocks and the three bears reference). Then as I proceed down the street, I would look at my surroundings and realize that life's pretty good. The flowers are growing, winds blowing, suns out. Then reality checks in and its time to get to work. I am a psychologist.....hopefully. Everyday I get to deal with people. Listen, help them come to terms with their struggles. After a long days work I'll come home, chill out, help my kids out with their homework.

To be honest I have no idea what my future literate me is doing but I do know that wherever I go, the English language will always be in my surroundings. Whether it be on billboards and signs, or in the newspaper, magazines, directions to how to build a house, lyrics to a song, words spoken to a stranger. Words are all around us. Can't hide.

In terms of my writing in the future, I probably will keep some sort of journal. Never to old for one. I'm going to need one to keep myself sane. My journal would be a safe place to voice my opinions, state my dreams, tell my fears, and make goals. My journal would be an extension of me.

Basically, I am not writer, or a really good reader but that's not going to stop me.
